RCGC Flying Pig Updates
Here are a few updates about the club's involvement in the Flying Pig Marathon. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
- Flying Pig Discount Ends - The last day for online registration for this year's Flying Pig Marathon is Friday April 20th. This also means that it is the last day for you to use the club's Discount Code for the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati. You will NOT be able to use the Discount Code during late registration at the Expo. The code is good for any of the events on Flying Pig Weekend from the 5k to the Full Marathon.
Register at www.flyingpigmarathon.com. When you register, enter the Discount Code where it says to enter the discount code on the registration page.
Note:PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS CODE TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE CLUB OTHERWISE THE FLYING PIG WILL NOT ALLOW US DISCOUNTS FOR FUTURE FLYING PIG EVENTS!
Also, the discount is not valid with other discounts that you may have already received. If you need the discount code, contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com. Note: You need to be a current member of the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati to use! You can join online at www.cincinnatirunning.com. - Club Fluid Station - The Club has a Flying Pig Fluid Station at mile 22. This is one of our largest volunteer opportunities of the year. We need 40 volunteers; so please volunteer today. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the pig, free food and drink at the waterstop, the chance to socialize with other members in a relaxed informal setting, and the free entertainment value of watching the Mile 22 Fluid Station Captain freak out over what could happen in 2012. The 2008 waterstop dealt with fire, 2009 dealt with no uplifting music(Social Distortion is the last thing you want to hear at mile 22) until the marathon unexpectedly came through with the DJ, 2010 dealt with rain and flooding, 2011 dealt with being struck by lightning, see what 2012 brings. If you're running the full marathon, ask family, friends and coworkers to catch you at "Your water stop - Mile 22" or if you enjoy to watch people suffer, mile 22 is definitely the place to be. You can sign up to volunteer at our website.
New for 2012! The club will have a theme at Mile 22. The theme is: What High School Did You Go To? Wear an article of clothing with your High School logo like a shirt, shorts, ballcap or the entire school mascot outfit to let everyone know running the Flying Pig Marathon what high school you went to! - Club Booth at the Flying Pig Expo - The club has procured a booth at the 2012 Flying Pig Expo which is on Friday May 4, and Saturday May 5. The booth is located in the center of the action. Working the booth is quite easy. You just tell people what a great group we are, hand out club newsletters, promote the Memorial Day Race, and answer any other questions that they may have about the club. There are 5 shifts(2 on Friday and 3 on Saturday)and we need at least 2 volunteers per shift to man it. We have open spots for Friday second shift and the first two Saturday shifts. If you can work the booth at the Flying Pig expo, sign up using the online volunteer form.
