Casting Inquiry For People Who Use Wearable Smart Technology

Got in an email over the weekend:
Dan Bell Casting in Los Angeles, CA specializes in 'real people casting', and is currently working on a worldwide documentary project looking to talk with people who use wearable smart technology and have seen an improvement in their overall health and fitness.
If you or someone you might know wears smart tech devices to track their activity and that you could share the attached flyer with them. Again, this project is a documentary project. This week they are having quick Skype sessions with everyone, only 10 minutes each. They are in the research phase of the project, and are very interested in knowing how people are using their wearable technology across the world!
Thank you so much - have a look at the attached flyer, and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

Don Wahle 'Gentle Roast' - January 22

Got in an email from Bob Roncker:
Those lucky individuals who know Don, love and respect him for the person that he is and for the many things he has done for the local running community. Imagine Cincinnati without the Thanksgiving Day Race. One of his efforts kept the race going in the 60s. As many of you are aware, Don is now completely blind and Ginny, his wife, has an aggressive form of Alzheimer’s. It has been a tough time for Don and his family.
This is an opportunity for each of us to have an enjoyable evening and help with his family’s care expenses as we show our appreciation to him by publicly expressing in words our feelings about him. Stories (Roasted rare) are welcome. Please limit comments to a few minutes so all who wish to speak have the opportunity.
We recommend that you register online (www.racedmc.com and click Schedule. The January 22 date appears first) since the restaurant capacity is 100, in order to guarantee a space for yourself and your guests.  If the Roast is not filled, you may also register at the door on the evening of the event. If you cannot attend, but still would like to financially contribute, there is this online possibility.
Contact Don Connolly if you would like to be included on the list to talk - dconno@racedmc.com or text 513-646-8633. There will be an optional VIP table for speakers (roasters). We request a $100 donation if you wish to sit at this table. You are still able to speak if you choose not to sit at the VIP table. Let Don Connolly know if you would like to sit at the VIP table.
Be warned - Don Wahle will have the chance to get in the final words so he can refute all the ‘falsities’ that were attributed to him earlier in the evening.

Free Tickets for Advance Screening of McFarland USA

The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati was given free tickets by The Owens Group to an advance screening of MCFARLAND USA. The screening will be held at the Kenwood Theater on Thursday 2/5/15 at 7:00 PM. We have 4 tickets left so if interested, send us an email with your address and we will get them out to you ASAP. Thank you.

SYNOPSIS: Based on the 1987 true story, "McFarland, USA" follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California's farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner), a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. Coach White and the McFarland students have a lot to learn about each other but when White starts to realize the boys' exceptional running ability, things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts becomes apparent-the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that his family finally found a place to call home and both he and his team achieve their own kind of American dream. View Trailer.

Run,Walk, Cycle Across America

Berkeley Lab has designed a transcontinental virtual trip across the United States. Each time you enter your mileage of either running, walking or cycling, they add it to your total and show you exactly what you would see if you had been traveling on the TransAmerica Trail from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon. They also provide maps that show your progress and the progress of your friends if they have an account. If you wish, you can form teams to race across the United States. You can check it out at http://exercise.lbl.gov/index.html.

Lauren Fights For A Cure - Please Help

Got an email from Mark Knigga who is running the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon(IMM) this Saturday November 1 in Honor of Lauren Hill. Please help Mark raise $22,000 for Lady Tiger 22 and show your support at mile 22 at the IMM! Here is main part of the email:
Lauren and I live in the same town (Lawrenceburg, IN). She is 19 years old and was diagnosed last year with DIPG. DIPG is a cancer of the brain with a 0% survival rate that afflicts predominantly young children. Lauren is not expected to survive until the end of the year. Lauren is a student and basketball player at the College of Mount St. Joe in Cincinnati, Ohio. She will be participating in her first and only college game on Sunday November 2nd. On Saturday, I will be running the IMM (Indianapolis Monumental Marathon) in Lauren’s Honor. My goal is to raise $22,000. I chose this amount because it was Lauren's uniform number in high school. I have included the link below for the web site with additional information.
