Run The Year 2017

Got in an email:
Run The Edge is putting on the Run The Year 2,017 miles  in 2017 running/walking challenge starting January 1st. Owners, Adam Goucher, and Tim Catalano, have years of experience in the running industry, and are excited to launch the third year of the challenge.  The challenge asks runners/walkers, cross-trainers, and regular everyday exercisers to run or walk 2,017 miles in the year 2017. It sounds difficult, and it is, but when you make a goal, stick with a community, have a supportive (maybe competitive!) team behind you, and believe in your goals, amazing things can happen. The miles can be completed anywhere, at anytime, and the challenge can be completed individually or on a team of up to 4 people. This is a great way to keep your running group engaged and active all year long! Registration comes with optional entry to 12 monthly fitness challenges hosted by Kara Goucher and access to mileage trackers.
I wanted to reach out to offer you a $5 code for your and your community. Please feel free to share the code "RTYSCLUBS" with family, friends, runners, walkers, anyone in your community. I've attached a few flyers below with information if you'd like to post to social media or email to your crew! Check out the Run The Year challenge and get inspired to join us for 2,017 miles! For more details about the challenge, look at www.runtheedge.com/runtheyear2017.

2016 Turkey Burner Mile Recap

About 35 runners decided to burn a few  extra calories and figure out how fast that they could run a mile this past Sunday afternoon November 27, 2016  at the  RCGC Turkey Burner Mile Run at Summit Park in Blue Ash OH(View photos).  Conditions for the race were sunny but windy.  The wind would effect the runners on the out and back relatively flat mile course on the former taxi runway of Blue Ash Airport..
Top finisher was Ben Bayless with a time of 4:47 followed by Seth Streitmatter who ran a 4:49 and Cy Young who ran a 5:18. Top female was the ageless wonder Peggy Doerger who ran a 6:09. She was followed by Cindy Moore who ran a 6:57 and Charlotte Gould who ran a 7:10.   (View results).
Thank you to our volunteers Lowell Clark, Tom Glasscock, Todd Hofacre and  Stacy Osborne.  Without their help, the race could not have happened.  A special thank to the City of Blue Ash for allowing us to use Summit Park and the taxi runway for the race.  See you in 2017. If you won an award but had to leave early, you can pick up your awards at the Foot Doctor located at 5521 Montgomery Road, Norwood OH. VIEW RESULTS.

Whiskey City Spirit 5k Race Recap

The Whiskey City Spirit 5k Run / Walk  is done in conjunction with Whiskey City Festival in Lawrenceburg Indiana on the first Saturday in November. It raises funds for the Lawrenceburg Lions. This was the 2nd year for the race, and the first time that I ran it.  I decided to do this race since I wanted to do a  race in Lawrenceburg Indiana,  and the 11:00 AM start time was an extra bonus.
Race Registration was near the Doubletree Hotel and Lawrenceburg Event Center. They had about 80 runners and walkers. Race Day Registration was $30 which included a drifit shirt, a goody bag, a high ball glass and a sample bottle of either vodka or tequila. If you finished the race, they gave you a finsihers medal that could serve as a bottle opener and a keychain. The course started on top of the flood wall for a scenic view of the Ohio River,  proceeded through the streets around Lawrenceburg and finished near race registration. It was a flat course except for the slight downhill off the floodwall. They had one waterstop on the course and the miles were marked.  However some people got lost on the course.
Post race like most races featured bananas and water.  Overall, it was a nice race with a course different from the ones that you get today. I may do it again next year depending on my schedule.  For race results, visit www.stuartroadracing.comView Results.
