RCGC Summer Cross Country Series Race # 7 Recap - A First

The 45th Annual Summer RCGC Cross Country Series held its 7th race at the Valley View Nature Preserve, near Pattison Elementary in Milford this past Thursday July 26. About 40 runners showing up planning to race. There was some thunder and the last lightning leading up to race time was about 6:30 PM. About 2 minutes before the race was to begin, lightning showed up with three strikes in rapid succession to the ground just to the north. At that point, the organizers cancelled the race - a first in the 45 year history of the Series as you need to wait about 30 minutes after seeing the last strike of lightning.
