RCGC Volunteer Opportunities - April 2016

Here are some upcoming opportunities where you can help out the Runners' Club of Greater. If you can help out with any of these events, we would greatly appreciate it:
  1. Flying Pig Fluid Station Volunteers Wanted - The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati will have a fluid station at mile 22 for the 18th Annual Flying Pig Marathon. Mile 22 is where the marathon really begins for the runners and your support and encouragement means plenty to them. If you are running the marathon, please encourage your friends and family to help out. If you're not running, join us for a little fun and help us help the runners at mile 22. To volunteer at our waterstop:
    1. Go to the Flying Pig Volunteer Registration Page.
    2. Click the Sign-up with registered group.
    3. Find and select Runners' Club of Cincinnati from the group list.
    4. Complete volunteer information.
    5. Use Runnerclub as the group password when asked near the end of the form.
If you have any questions or problems, let us know.  Sign Up for the Waterstop
  2. Memorial Day Race 40 - The RCGC Memorial Day Race needs 10-15 volunteers to help with registration, timing, course marshals and post race on Monday May 30. It would take 2-3 hours of your time. The jobs are easy and you will get the commemorative Memorial Day Race Shirt plus a few other goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members. Let us know whether you can help by emailing us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or sign up at www.runsignup.com
  3. Ongoing Openings - Currently we have few openings for keeping the club running on an ongoing basis:  Social Chair,  Program Chair, and Newsletter Editor. Most positions take 2-3 hours a month of your time. If you can or would like to fulfill one of these positions, please send an email to cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or attend the next board meeting on May 4.

2016 RCGC Flying Pig Updates

Here are a couple of updates about the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati's involvement in the 18th Annual Flying Pig Marathon. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
  • Club Fluid Station - The Club has a Flying Pig Fluid Station at mile 22. This is one of our largest volunteer opportunities of the year. We need about 40 volunteers; so please volunteer today. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the pig, free food and drink at the waterstop, the chance to socialize with other members in a relaxed informal setting, and the free entertainment value of watching the Mile 22 Fluid Station Captain freak out over what could happen in 2016. The 2008 waterstop dealt with fire, 2009 dealt with no uplifting music(Social Distortion is the last thing you want to hear at mile 22) until the marathon unexpectedly came through with the DJ, 2010 dealt with rain and flooding, 2011 dealt with being struck by lightning. If you're running the full marathon, ask family, friends and coworkers to catch you at "Your water stop - Mile 22" or if you enjoy to watch people suffer, mile 22 is definitely the place to be. You can sign up to volunteer at our website or do the following:

For 2016 we are looking for a theme! If you have an idea contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com.
  • Piggest Raffle Ever -  The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati is also part of the Piggest Raffle Ever with the Flying Pig Marathon for 2016  Adopt a pig for $5 for a chance to to win a 2 year lease on a Toyota Prius, $10,000 Cash ($5,000 to the winning ticket holder and $5,000 to the charity who sold the ticket) or  a $1500 Cincinnati experience.   To help out, select Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati as the charity at www.piggestraffle.com  when you adopt a pig and the club gets a portion of the proceeds.
