Early Registration Ends Soon For Ault Park Mile

Early registration ends soon for the Ault Park Mile. The deadline for Mail entries is Tuesday October 25.  Online Registration is available through Thursday October 27.  Cost is $10- General Public and $5 - RCGC Members / 21 & Under. 2016 Turfway Tick Tock Trot Registration Open

The Turfway Tick Tock Trot is a unique way to "run" into the New Year in Greater Cincinnati! Open to men, women and children, this event will be under the lights at Turfway Park in Florence Kentucky on Saturday December 31 at 11:45 PM. Runners do two laps around the Turfway Park race track for two miles or 16 furlongs. Top 25 Males and Top 25 Females will receive awards. No dogs or strollers are allowed on the track. RCGC Turkey Burner Mile - November 27

Looking for a way to work off those extra holiday calories? Join us at the Turkey Burner Mile! The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati will host a one mile race at Summit Park in Blue Ash OH on Sunday November 27th at 1:00 PM. Awards to the Top Male and Top  Female Runner and to the Top Male and Top Female in the following Age Groups: 12 & Under,13-18,  19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Over.
Cost is $10 - General Public and $5 for RCGC Members or 21 & under for early registration.

Straight Street Climb - November 20

The Straight Street Hill Climb is a .36 mile race up Straight Street in the CUF neighborhood. The race was started by the Clifton Track Club in the late 1970's. The Climb features a bike challenge and duathlon in addition to the road race. The race will begin at 9 a.m followed by the bike challenge at 9:30 AM.
Early bird registration is $10 and $15 on race day.
Awards for top three finishers in 5 running divisions: Youth (ages 12 and under); Teen (ages 13 thru 17); Men's Open; Women's Open; and Masters (ages 50+). For more information or to register, go to www.straightstreethillclimb.com.

Volunteer Opportunities - Fall 2016

Here are some upcoming opportunities where you can help out the Runners' Club of Greater. If you can help out with any of these events, we would greatly appreciate it:
  1. RCGC Ault Park Mile - The RCGC Ault Park Mile  needs 5-10 volunteers to help with registration, timing, and post race on Sunday October 30. It would take 1-2 hours  of your time. The jobs are easy and you will get a few other goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members.   2. RCGC Turkey Burner Mile - The RCGC Turkey Burner Mile  needs 5-10 volunteers to help with registration, timing, and post race on Sunday November 27. It would take 1-2 hours  of your time. 2016 Halloween Races in Greater Cincinnati

As any kid knows, October 31 is Halloween which means food and dressing up in costume.  If you can not wait that long, there are few Halloween themed races throughout the month of October to get you in the Halloween spirit.   Here are a few of them: 
  • Running Scared 5k, Saturday October 8, 6:00 PM, Veteran's Memorial Stadium, 1600 West Street, Reading OH - A flat 3.1 mile course through a “spooky” cemetery, ending at a fabulous Halloween Fest!  Participants are encouraged to run/walk in costumes. After the race, people are admitted to the post race party where they can listen to a hot band or have a cold beer. They can enjoy food and drinks from generous sponsors and listen to the live jammin’ band while they stay toasty warm inside or gather around the roaring fire outside.  Proceeds benefit Youth Education.  Visit www.runningscared5k.org for more information.
  • Trick or Trail, Sunday October 9, 2:00 PM, Oxford Community Park, Oxford OH - A 1K or 5K-ish Run/Walk in Costume along the Trails of the Oxford Community Park.  A Great Day of FUN for the Whole Family to Enjoy! Proceeds support The Luna Cares Fund which was created to help local women battling cancer with the financial burdens caused from medical costs incurred during treatments.   • 31st Ghost N Goblin 5k Run/Walk, Tuesday October 18 6:30 PM, Welcome Stadium, 1601 S. Edwin Moses Blvd., Dayton, OH  - The Ghost N Goblin 5k has been a Dayton Halloween tradition for over 30 years! Presented by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, the 2016 Ghost N Goblin is expected to be the best and biggest ever! Post race party with refreshments and a D.J.   • Mud-o-Ween 5k, Saturday October 24, 10:00 AM, Countryside YMCA, Lebanon OH - Take on the muckiest challenge! Three miles on all terrain trail run.       2016 Fall RCGC Grand Prix Update

      Scores have been updated for the 2016 RCGC Grand Prix through the RCGC Heat Blister Mile.(View Standings) using official scoring.  Official scoring is based on your best 7 races run(either A, B, C), your next best B race, and a C race.  The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on or supports. So far, about 70 club members have participated in at least one Grand Prix Race.
       Upcoming races in the RCGC Grand Prix include the Cincinnati Undy Run on October 1, Bean Bash Dash on October 8 and Hearts and Health Run on October 15.

        RCGC Mile Series Update - September 2016

        The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati will be doing a Mile Series in 2016 as part of being around for 40 years. It will include at least 10 1 mile races throughout the year and the top 7 of them will be scored.   Awards will be given to the top overall Male and Female, and Top Male and Female in the Following Age Groups based on their top seven mile races:
        29 & Under, 30-39, Masters(40-49), Grand Masters(50-59) and Legends(60 & over)
          All Club Members who meet the eligibility requirements are eligible for  an award. Scores have been updated through the RCGC Heat Blister Mile. Next race in the series are the Dam Mile Races in Sedamsville and the Ault Park Mile on October 30.
        If you are a club member that ran the first Dam Mile Race on August 27 or Harvest Home Fair Mile on September 8, send us your times so we can update the results.

        2016 Run@Work Day and Run@SchoolDay - September 16

        The 11th Annual RRCA Run@Work Day and 5th Run@School Day presented by the RRCA is Friday September 16. Companies,businesses, running clubs, fitness centers, schools and other groups across the country are participating with planned fun runs and walks to get people moving.
        The Run@Work Day and Run@School Day goal is to encourage adults and children to get 30-minutes of exercise each day, in accordance with the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
        Create an event at your work place with your co-workers or find an event to get moving. Get a planning kit, fact sheet, and posters on the RRCA website to help get you started! Post your event on the RRCA Run@Work Day Fan Page to let others know what you are doing on September 16.
