Volunteer Opportunities - June 2017

Here are some upcoming opportunities where you can help out the Runners' Club of Greater. If you can help out with any of these events, we would greatly appreciate it:

1. RCGC Track Mile - The RCGC Track Mile needs 5-10 volunteers to help with registration, timing, course marshals and post race on Tuesday June 20. It would take 1-2 hours  of your time. The jobs is easy and you will get  a few goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members. Let us know whether you can help by emailing us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com.  
2. RCGC Heat Blister Mile - The RCGC Heat Blister Mile needs 5-10 volunteers to help with registration, and timing on Sunday July 16. It would take 1-2 hours  of your time. The jobs are easy and you will get the RCGC Technical Shirt plus a few other goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members. 3. Ongoing Openings - Currently we have few openings for keeping the club running on an ongoing basis:  Social Chair,  Program Chair, and Newsletter Editor. Most positions take 2-3 hours a month of your time. If you can or would like to fulfill one of these positions, please send an email to cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or attend the next board meeting.

RCGC Board Meeting - June 14

The next RCGC Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday June 14 at the Foot Doctor at 5521 Montgomery Road in Norwood OH at 7:30 PM. The meeting is open to all current RCGC members.
We will discuss updates on upcoming races and social events.

Memorial Day Race 41 Shirts Available For Purchase

Memorial Day Race 41 has a  few shirts left over from Monday's race.  They are green t-shirts with the design on front and the back lists the race sponsors. We have Small, Medium, Large, and XL. If you would like a shirt from the 2017 race, you can get them over at the  Memorial Day Race Online Registration(Click on the store tab) for the price of 8.95.   They will be available for purchase through June 30. Order soon before June ends or we run out of the size that you want.

Memorial Day Race 41 Recap and Results

About 200 runners and walkers came out on Monday May 29 to Otto Armleder Park for Cincinnati's second oldest race.(View photos). They enjoyed a flat fast 5k course in sunny conditions.
Cory Logsdon of Omaha Nebraska was the top male with a time of 16:27 followed by Seth Streitmatter in 17:59 and Chris Nye who ran an 18:56.  The top female finisher was Kimberley Rennie of Terrace Park who ran a 21:06 followed by 2016 Champ Annette Molina who ran a  time of 22:03 and Katherine Bayer with a time of 22:24.  Jerry Muskal was the top male walker with a time of 31:08 and Miriam Jacobs was the top female with a time of 41:40(View Race Results)

RCGC Grand Prix Update - May 2017

The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati is doing a Grand Prix Series in 2017. The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on or supports or races that support the club. Scores have been updated through the Flying Pig Marathon and about 90 club members have participated in at least one Grand Prix Race.  Next race in the series are the club's Memorial Day Race and the Dogwood Dash which is now a  C race.  Visit the RCGC Grand Prix page for more information about the Grand Prix.

Memorial Day Race 41 - This Monday May 29

This Monday May 29 is the Memorial Day Race, Cincinnati's second oldest race behind the Thanksgiving Day Race. Please join us on a fast spectator friendly course. Race Day Registration opens at 8:00 AM at the shelter inside the park. Race Day Cost  is $20.00 General Public, and   $15 for those Age 21 and Under / RCGC Members.   Memorial Day Race 41 Shirts are available for $10. Race starts at 9:00 AM at Otto Armleder Park. See you there!

• DIRECTIONS:  From downtown Cincinnati: Take Columbia Parkway to the Beechmont Avenue Ramp. Right on Wilmer. Right on Beechmont Circle. Left on Wooster Pike. Park entrance is on the right at the stoplight just before US Bank Building.
  From the North: Take I-71 to Exit 9 (Fairfax/Red Bank Rd). Stay on Red Bank until it ends at Wooster Pike. Turn right on Wooster. Park Entrance is 1.4 miles on the left at the stoplight just after US Bank Building.

Race Day Discounts For Club Members

The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati offers a Race Day  discount for club members on many of the races that it puts on like the Memorial Day Race and RCGC Track Mile.  To get the discount, you need to provide proof. If you are a club member, it can be difficult and to make registration run smoothly, please provide proof of membership so our volunteers can process you and other race day runners easily.  Proof of Current Membership can include one of the following:

1. A current membership card that you downloaded from runsignup.com .
2. If you do not have your card but your smartphone, you can use your smartphone to verify that your membership is current if you have an internet connection on race day.
3. If you recently joined online via PayPal and do not yet have a card, a copy of your  membership receipt.
4. A credible current member can vouch for you(Good luck with that). 
5. Fill out a membership form on race day and pay for both the membership and the race.

Daniel Boone's Run For Statehood is a fast flat half marathon and 5k in Falmouth KY. The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati will be hosting a one mile race on the track at Shea Stadium in Norwood OH on Tuesday June 20 at 7:00 PM. Race-day only registration beginning at 6:00 PM - $5.00 for RCGC Members or those 21 & Under. $10.00 for General Public. Note: To get the discount, please have proof of membership.
