2019 Flying Pig Marathon Fluid Station Volunteers Wanted

The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati will have a fluid station at mile 22 for the 21st Annual Flying Pig Marathon. Mile 22 is where the marathon really begins for the runners and your support and encouragement means plenty to them. If you are running the marathon, please encourage your friends and family to help out. If you're not running, join us for a little fun and help us help the runners at mile 22.

RCGC Annual Meeting - April 8

All members of the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati in good standing and 2018 Grand Prix Award winners are welcome to attend the 2019 Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place on Monday April 8, 2019 starting at 6:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time at the Terwilliger Lodge, located at 10530 Deerfield Rd inside Dulle Park, Montgomery OH. On hand will be guest speaker Frank DeJulius. Frank is owner of  Fleet Feet Sports in Oakley and Blue Ash.  The meeting will cover the following:

  3. 2018 Grand Prix Series Awards Presentation
  4. Featured Speaker Frank DeJulius
  5. 2018 Financial Report and 2019 Budget

2019 RCGC Split The Pot Prediction Run Recap

5 runners participated in the RCGC Split the Pot Prediction Run this Past Sunday in overcast but warm conditions. The course was the main paved loop in Fernbank Park with start and finish at 13 Below Brewery for a distance of 2.5 miles.
The top male closest to his predicted time was Lowell Clark who ran a 16:56.92 and predicted 18:05 which put him 1:08 off his predicted time.  Top female closest to her predicted time was Kate Dusing who ran a 27:42.53 and predicted 26:03 which put her about 1:39.53 off her predicted time. The Magic 8 Ball went to Renee Cipriani for being the furthest from her predicted time. May it help her the next time that she runs a prediction run.

RCGC Board Members Wanted

Do you enjoy the events and activities of the club? Would you like them to continue or would you like the club to try something new? We are searching for Board Members to lead the RCGC for 2019-2020. Requirements are a willingness to work a couple of hours a week, attend one meeting a month, an idea of where you think the club should pursue its efforts, and a one year commitment. Currently, the club could use a couple of at large directors and officers(President, Treasurer) to serve in 2019. If you can fulfill one of these positions or want to be apart of the future of the club as board member or officer, send an email letting us know of your interest to serve at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com by March 29. Your approval will be by the Club Membership at the club's Annual Meeting in April.

RCGC Grand Prix Back For 2019

The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati Grand Prix Series returns for 2019. The RCGC Grand Prix includes and recognizes many of the races that the club runs, supports, started or helped start. It includes several popular and unique races in Cincinnati that the club has supported over the years.
9 races will still be scored which includes at least one B Race and one C race plus 7 other races. Since the club is a volunteer organization, volunteer points will be added to the scoring. Earn 10 points by volunteering at club supported events and members can earn up to 30 points by volunteering at 3 club supported events.
Awards will be given to the top overall Male and Female, and Top Male and Female in the Following Age Groups -  Youngsters(29&Under), Submasters (30-39), Masters(40-49), GrandMasters(50-59), Legends(60-69) and StillLookingGood(70 & over).  Back for 2019 will be the 700 Club – Any member who score over 700 points in the 2019 Grand Prix receives a commemorative award.
 The first race in the series will be the Heart Mini Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday March 10    About the RCGC Grand Prix.

2019 RCGC Heart Mini Updates

Here is what the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati has going on for the Heart Mini Marathon this weekend:
  • For those that joined The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati Heart Mini Team, you can pick up your stuff at the Heart Mini Expo this Saturday March 9 at the Duke Energy Center. The expo opens at 9:00 AM. Since we had less than 10 members join our team, we will be under the individual pickup.    
  • Every year, the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati gets a hospitality suite in the Westin for members. We provide food, drinks, a place to stash your gear, and a view of Fountain Square - where all the action is on race day! It will be available around 6:45 AM on race day. We generally find out the room number on late Saturday afternoon at check-in so check your email for the room number Saturday evening or contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com. Note:Only current paid RCGC members plus one guest, and nonmembers who signed up for the Runners' Club Heart Mini-Team have access to the rooms.

RCGC Split The Pot Prediction Run - March 24

The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati will be hosting a Split the Pot Prediction Run on Sunday March 24, 2019 at 13 Below Brewery. Run distance will be 2.5 miles.
The way that the Prediction Run works is as follows:
It is a race against yourself. Your goal is to get as close as to your predicted time as possible without any electrical, biological, or mechanical device to tell how well you are matching your predicted time.
 Since it is on the West Side for 2019, the run is a Split the Pot where half the early registration fees go to the Top Male and Top Female closest to their predicted time. Visit the registration page for more information.

  • DATE: Sunday, March 24, 2019. 
  • TIME: 1:15 PM 
  • PLACE: 13 Below Brewery, 7391 Forbes Road, Cincinnati OH.  
  • COURSE: 2.5 miles. Starts and finishes at 13 Below Brewery.
  • RULES: No Watches, Garmins, IPods, Pedometers, Smart phones, Headphones, help from nonparticipating family or friends or any external item that will aid you in figuring out how well or poor you are running based on your predicted finish time. Only your wits and your senses are allowed. If we catch or suspect that you have violated the rules, you will be disqualified. In the event of a tie, fastest runner wins.
  • REGISTRATION: Preregistration Available through Thursday March 21  Fee is $15  RCGC Members - $10. Includes one drink ticket.

2018 Grand Prix Winners

Here are the 2018 RCGC Grand Prix Winners.  The goal of the Grand Prix was to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on, supports or supports us.  Over 70 club members participated in at least one Grand Prix Race for 2018.
  Awards will be given to the top overall Male and Female, Top Male and Female in the Youngster Category(29 & Under) Submasters Category(30 -39), Masters(40-49), GrandMaster(50-59) Legends(60-69) Categories and Still Looking Good(70 and over). Scoring was based on any best 7 races(either A, B, C), one best B race, and one best C Race. Below is a list of the award winners for the 2018 Grand Prix.  Special  awards is given to those who score over 700 points in the Grand Prix and known as the 700 Club. They will be recognized at the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati Annual Meeting in April. Congratulations everyone.
