2024 Winter Wonderland Run Results

 

47 runners and walkers competed in the 2024 Winter Wonderland Run this past Sunday February 24 in sunny, but cold conditions at Fernbank Park on the (Far) West Side of Cincinnati(View photos). Runners and walkers travailed a  relatively flat 5k course that included wood, concrete, cobblestone asphalt, grass and dirt.  Caitlin Bowen  of  Cincinnati OH was the top finisher and top female with a time of 21:37.  Top Male and second place over all was Rich Webber of  Cincinnati OH who ran a 21:39,  (View Race Results ).

Thank you to our race day volunteers Fred Farnsley, Melissa Farnsley, Megan Fryburger, Liz Hofacre, Todd Hofacre, and Marty Hovey.  Their patience and flexibility helped  the club put on a successful race.  See you in 2025.

RCGC Grand Prix Returns for 2024

   The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati Grand Prix Series returns for 2024! The RCGC Grand Prix includes and recognizes many of the races that the club and it members direct,  support, started, or helped start. It includes several popular and unique races in Cincinnati that the club and its members  have supported over the years.

For 2024,  9 races  be scored which includes at least two B Races plus 7 other races.  Awards will be given to the top overall Male and Female, and Top Male and Female in the Following Age Groups -  Youngsters(29&Under), Submasters (30-39), Masters(40-49), GrandMasters(50-59), Legends(60-69) and StillLookingGood(70 & over).  The 2024 Grand Prix will feature the popular 700 Club – Any member who scores over 700 points in the 2024 Grand Prix receives a commemorative award. The Cost to run in the RCGC Grand Prix is an RCGC Membership.  First Race in the Series is the Winter Wonderland Run on February 12,2024. This Sunday  February 11,2024 is the  RCGC Winter Wonderland Run. It will be a 5k Run/Walk around the paths and trails of Fernbank Park.

Race Number Pickup will open at noon at the Riverview Shelter just inside the park. Registration is available at runsignup.com through February 26, 2023 until 12:59 pm.

Volunteer Opportunities - Winter 2024

   Here are some upcoming opportunities where you can help out the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati. If you can help out with any of these events, we would greatly appreciate it:

•  Winter Wonderland Run - The Winter Wonderland Run needs 10-15 volunteers to help with registration, timing, and post race on February 11. It would take 1-2 hours of your time. The jobs are easy and you will get a few other goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members. • Leap Day Race - The Leap Day Race needs 10-15 volunteers to help with registration, timing, and post race on February 29. It would take 1-2 hours of your time. Online Registration Open for 2024 Leap Day Race

 2024 is a Leap Year so it is time for the RCGC Leap Day Race - a tradition that began in 2004. It will be a 4k Run / Walk on the Lunken Bike Trail. Registration is now open.

Cost is $16.00 for RCGC Members / 21 & Under ; $20.00 for the General Public through February 28,2024. Group Discount is available(Online Only). Visit  the registration page for more information.

• COURSE: 4k out and back course on the Lunken Bike Trail. 
• AWARDS: Overall awards given to the Top 4 Male Runners, Top 4 Female Runners, Top 4 Male Walkers and Top 4 Female Walkers. Awards given to the top male and female runner in the following age groups: 18 & under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60&over.

RCGC Grand Prix Update December 2023

    The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati is doing a Grand Prix Series in 2023. The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on, supports or races that support the club. So far about 52 club members have participated in at least one Grand Prix Race.  Next race and last race in the series in the Grand Prix is the Egg Nog Jog on December 16. Club Members That Did The 2023 Straight Street Climb

 The Straight Street Hill Climb is a .36 mile race up Straight Street in the CUF neighborhood. The race was started by the Clifton Track Club in 1976 and is currently the Sunday before Thanksgiving. In the 1970's and 1980's it was part of a Hill Climb Series, four races up Cincinnati's steepest hills and put on by  a group in the Clifton Track Club known as MAHFU(Mountains and Hill Freaks United).  Straight Street and Monastery Hill were always in the rotation and the other two Hill Races in the series rotated on different streets and hills in Greater Cincinnati.  Since the Straight Street Climb has a significant part in the club's history, here is a list of those members that did the 2023 Straight Street Climb this past Sunday. 2023 Thanksgiving Day Races in Greater Cincinnati

Greater Cincinnati Hill Runs

 Club Member Tammy Otten is putting together an informal running series to conquer the 10 worst (or best, depending on perspective) hills of Cincinnati. There are 7 routes with 10 hills ranging from 4 miles to 7 miles. Meet each Saturday morning at 9:00 at the designated location and Tammy will bring routes. Meeting routes will be posted on the club's Facebook Group a few days before the scheduled run. Full transparency, these routes were created a few years back by Jason Hoyt! The first will be on Saturday 11/11/2023 and will run each Saturday. All paces welcome! Walkers welcome.
