Little Miami Triathlon Fall 2015 - this Sunday Oct 4th

    Got in an email:
The Morgan Family will once again be hosting the Little Miami Triathlon in the beautiful, historically significant Little Miami River Valley on Sunday Oct. 4,2015. This unique event features the traditional type of triathlon but with the swimming leg being replaced by paddling in either a canoe (as a 2 person team) or in a kayak (as an individual participant). Online registration can be found at https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=121923 and closes Oct 1. Day of registration is also available at Morgan’s Canoe Livery, 5701 State Route 350, Oregonia OH 45054, before 9am.
This event was created 36 years ago by Bob Roncker, of Running Spot fame, with Gary Morgan, one of the owners of Morgan’s Canoe and Outdoor Adventures. It was inspired by the Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii in 1979 and was the first triathlon of its kind produced in the U.S. The competition is comprised of a 6 mile canoe/kayak race, 5.5 mile run and 18 mile bike race in that order. Different divisions include Male/Male, Male/Female, Female/Female, Parent/Child and Masters. There even have been grandparents teamed up with grandkids! Participants enter for a variety of reasons…whether it be to win, to just have fun, to set a goal like weight loss, or to bond with their partner(whether it is a friend, co-‐worker, child, spouse or significant other) in a fun way.
“ I have done triathlons and endurance events from Berlin to Bangkok. I can say without a doubt that the LMT is my favorite race anywhere. I have done this race more times over the last 15 years than any other race” says Bernie Casey, Race Participant.
The triathlon benefits the Cincinnati Association for the Blind as well as many Warren County Boy Scout groups. Gary Morgan continues to produce and direct this event.
The Morgan Family pioneered the canoeing and paddlesport industry in the Southwestern Ohio and Southeastern Indiana regions over 50 years ago. For more info go to www.littlemiamitriathlon.com or www.morganscanoe.com.

2015 Grand Prix Update - September

Scores have been updated for the 2015 RCGC Grand Prix through A Midsummer Night's Run.(View Standings). Since there were no RCGC Grand Prix Races between the Midsummer Run and now, we were able to update results based on official scoring. Official scoring is based on your best 7 races run(either A, B, C), your best B race, and a C race.  The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on or supports. So far, about 80 club members have participated in at least one Grand Prix Race.
The next race in the RCGC Grand Prix will be the Brewery Run 14k and 7k which is this Saturday September 19 in downtown Cincinnati and the Panerathon 10k and 5k which is this Sunday September 20 at the Deerfield Town Center in Mason.
Below is a list of the top 11 male and top 11 female club members for scoring through A Midsummer Night's Run.  For more information about the Grand Prix, go to the RCGC Grand Prix Page at www.cincinnatirunning.com.

Running Movie This Saturday At The Cincinnati Film Festival

    Got in an email:
    Greetings!
I’m a producer (and one of the runners) of an inspirational documentary film called “From Fat To Finish Line.”  The film tells the tale of 12 people from across the country (one of the runners, Carly York, is a local from right outside Cincinnati!) who have lost 100 pounds or more through healthier eating and running. The 12 runners became friends through Facebook and teamed up to run the 200 mile, Ragnar Relay Race, from Miami to Key West Florida. The film follows their journey to the finish line while discussing their weight loss journeys. It’s a film for anyone who has ever dreamed big and dared to put one foot in front of another to reach the finish line.
The film will screen this Saturday September 12th at 3PM at Showboat Majestic on 435 E. Mehring Way, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
Tickets can be purchased in advance here: http://www.cincyticket.com or purchased the day of at the box office.
I would love for you and your running club to come to the screening. Myself, along with Carly and the Director of the film will be around for a question and answer session after the screening.
If you would  like to learn a little bit more about the film and runners, check out the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FatToFinish.
There is also have a Facebook event page where you can learn more about the screening: https://www.facebook.com/events/912632318824689/
The team has been featured on Today Show, Runner’s World Magazine, Health Magazine and NPR radio. I hope you’ll consider joining us and please spread the word! We would love the support of the running community. :) Please feel free to contact me with any questions!!

Harvest Home Fair Mile Run Cancelled for 2015

When putting together the blog post for September 2015 Races, I reviewed last year's September Calendar.  To my surprise, I noticed the Harvest Home Fair Mile was cancelled for 2015.The race organizer had a few family issues and the work and challenge of putting together a race was too much. There are so few mile races(about 5) in Greater Cincinnati so hopefully it will return in 2016.
