Free Screening of Western States 100 Documentary - Friday March 16 at Bob Roncker's Running Spot
Got in an email from Bob Roncker's Running Spot:
Ever wonder what a 100 mile ultramarathon is really like?
Join Bob Roncker and the local Cincinnati ultrarunners for a premier showing of the new documentary “Unbreakable: The Western States 100,” March 16th from 6-8:30, at Bob Roncker’s Running Spot in O’Bryonville.
The film by Journeyfilm’s JB Benna, follows the footsteps of four extraordinary athletes, including Tony Krupicka, Geoff Roes, Hal Koener, and Killian Jornet as they prepare and run the most famous 100 mile race, the Western States 100. The daunting challenge takes the runners across the Sierra Nevada, some of the most rugged country in the western United States. On race day you will join the front runners shoulder to shoulder as they push their limits above the timberline, down huge descents and witness firsthand what goes on during a 100 mile race.
This is a must see for anyone who dreams of running a 100 mile race, especially the Western States 100.
The evening will be kicked off at 6:15 with a brief question and answer discussion with David Riddle, Harvey Lewis, Dave Corfman and Emily Bello, some of the local and top ultra runners in the nation. Riddle has taken the ultra scene by storm setting several ultra course records, winning the JFK 50 mile this year and will be competing in this year’s WS100. Lewis, a Badwater veteran, has a 100 mile victory, and third in last year’s 24 hour national championship race. Corfman has completed Badwater and earned a silver buckle at the 2009 WS 100. Emily Bello has three 50 mile victories, and placed in the top five of eight ultras.
Space is limited to 50 people and the movie is FREE of charge, courtesy of Bob Roncker’s Running Spot! But you have to register.
