Race Survey for 2008

Mark Twain supposedly said about Cincinnati,"When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Cincinnati because it's always twenty years behind the times." The club race's survey page could give you a couple of more years until the end of the world as it was behind by about 3 years.

No more! The club's race survey page is updated for 2008. If you ran any of the 40 races listed in the 2008 survey, we want to hear from you. Take the Survey

RCGC National Trail Day Recap in Greater Cincinnati
The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati celebrated with a trail run at French Park for National Trails Day. Held the First Saturday in June, National Trails Day is a celebration of America's Great Trail System. There were more than 1500 events nationwide and the RCGC Run at French Park was one of the them.
About 10 of us met at the shelter at the top of the hill. I had not been to French Park since the RCGC Cross Country Series was last held there in 2000. RCGC Vice President Laura Wagner led the runners on run through the trails which featured a few Creek Crossings. Since I was one of the slower people, I got separated from the group and made a left when I should have made a right. Needless to say, I ended up on the a large portion of the old RCGC Cross Country Course. I ran that at least one time and headed back up to the top of the hill via the main road. Afterwards, the club provided water, pop, fruit, doughnuts, and cookies for post run refreshment. Thanks to Laura for leading the runners and making sure that all got back safely.

National Running Day Recap in Cincinnati
The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati joined with the UC Running Club to celebrate National Running Day in Cincinnati. National Running Day was an opportunity to promote running as a healthy safe form of exercise. Both groups met at the Oval at Mount Airy Forest where runners could do either trail runs or run the open road. Most opted to do the trail despite the rain for the past two days. I opted for the road. A few people took wrong turns on both the trail and the roads, but everybody got back to the shelter. The UC Running Club had a grill out to celebrate the end of the year and the RCGC brought water, pop and fruit. I heard that the trails despite a few muddy spots were in pretty good condition and a few runners did the steps. A special thank you goes to Tim Kling. Tim guided the runners on the trail. Although no timers were present Tim may have set a new PR as in his words "that was the fastest that I ran in a long time".
