    The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati is doing a Grand Prix Series in 2023. The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on, supports or races that support the club. Club Members That Did The 2023 Straight Street Climb

 The Straight Street Hill Climb is a .36 mile race up Straight Street in the CUF neighborhood. The race was started by the Clifton Track Club in 1976 and is currently the Sunday before Thanksgiving. In the 1970's and 1980's it was part of a Hill Climb Series, four races up Cincinnati's steepest hills and put on by  a group in the Clifton Track Club known as MAHFU(Mountains and Hill Freaks United).  Straight Street and Monastery Hill were always in the rotation and the other two Hill Races in the series rotated on different streets and hills in Greater Cincinnati.  Since the Straight Street Climb has a significant part in the club's history, here is a list of those members that did the 2023 Straight Street Climb this past Sunday. RCGC Grand Prix Update Fall 2023

2023 Thanksgiving Day Races in Greater Cincinnati

Greater Cincinnati Hill Runs

 Club Member Tammy Otten is putting together an informal running series to conquer the 10 worst (or best, depending on perspective) hills of Cincinnati. There are 7 routes with 10 hills ranging from 4 miles to 7 miles. Meet each Saturday morning at 9:00 at the designated location and Tammy will bring routes. Meeting routes will be posted on the club's Facebook Group a few days before the scheduled run. Full transparency, these routes were created a few years back by Jason Hoyt! The first will be on Saturday 11/11/2023 and will run each Saturday. All paces welcome! Walkers welcome.

2023 Halloween Races In Greater Cincinnati

  Any kid knows that October 31 is Halloween which means food and dressing up in costume.  If you can not wait that long, there are few Halloween themed races throughout the month of October to get you in the Halloween spirit.  Here are a few of them, check the club calendar for a few more.

• HJWL Run For Your Bones 5k, Saturday October 21, 9:00 am, Municipal Brew Works, Hamilton OH. We all have that giving feeling inside our bones!  Come join the first ever Hamilton Junior Women’s League 5k run.  The money raised from the event benefits charitable organizations serving women and children in the Butler County area.  So, come on out and shake your hips and rattle your bones and have a fun day! Visit the race information page for more information.
• Monster Mash & Dash 5k  Walk/Run, Saturday October 21, 4:00 pm, Clinton Massie Campus, Clarksville OH. Wear costume during the run. Registration includes access to trunk or treat after the run. 2023 Sue Harder 5k - October 1

 Sue Harder passed away suddenly at the young age of 58 in January 2021. She was a beloved member of the Fleet Feet Running Club. She was a very active runner who ran three marathons and countless half marathons. Her latest half marathon was just a few months before her passing. She was supportive of all new runners and was a friend and cheerleader to all her fellow runners. 

The 2023 Sue Harder Memorial 5K is to be the third annual memorial run for Sue. The run will commemorate Sue by welcoming new friends and old for a 5K in her hometown in Cincinnati as well as virtually across the country. NKU Summer Cross Country Series Starts July 25

  For those who love cross country, Northern Kentucky University has a Cross Country series on their training course on the NKU Campus beginning August 2. They will have 2 mile races on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm on Tuesday July 25, Tuesday August 2 and Tuesday August 9. This event is open to all ages and experience levels and a great way to introduce the sport to middle school/high school or just plain old school runners. 2023 Memorial Day Race Shirts Available for Purchase

 

The 2023 Memorial Day Race  has a few shirts left over from the race on Monday.  They are blue technical shirts with the dogtag logo on front and a design on the back. We have Medium, Large, XL and a couple 2XL. If you would like a shirt from the race, you can get them over at the  Memorial Day Race Online Registration for the price of 12.00 (include 3.00 shipping & handling).   They will be available for purchase through June 30. Order soon before the deadline or we run out of the size that you want.

Memorial Day Race 47 Recap and Results

 99 runners and walkers came out on Monday May 29 to Lunken Playfield in Cincinnati Ohio for Cincinnati's second oldest race.  Race conditions were sunny and warm and the course was dry and fast.  

    Nick Meiners of  Cincinnati OH was the top male with a time of 16:46.  Larremy Gray was the second male to cross the finish line with a time of 17:58 and  Matthew Hils was the third male who ran a 18:14.  The top female finisher was Kayla Hess who ran a 21:30. Eleanor Schutte was the second female with a time of 22:15 and Annette Molina was third who ran a 22:31.  Roger Nunlist was the top male walker with a time of 38:49 and Leah Weitzman was the top female walker with a time of  35:57 (View Race Results)

Daniel Boone's Run For Statehood - June 10

  Daniel Boone's Run For Statehood is a low cost half marathon and 5k in Falmouth KY. It provides a great race at a great price in a nice area just outside Greater Cincinnati.  $500 Cash Purse if 100 pre-register by June 12 or 200 for race day. This Monday May 29 is the Memorial Day Race, Cincinnati's second oldest race behind the Thanksgiving Day Race. Race Day Registration opens at 8:00 AM at shelter #1 as you enter the park. Race Day Cost  is $20.00 General Public, and  $15 for those Age 21 and Under / RCGC Members.   Memorial Day Race 47 Shirts are available for $15. 2023 RCGC Grand Prix - May Update

   The Runners’ Club of Greater Cincinnati is doing a Grand Prix Series in 2023. The goal of the Grand Prix is to include and recognize members that do many of the races that the club puts on, supports or races that support the club. So far three races have been run and about 50 club members have participated in at least one Grand Prix Race.  Next race in the series are the Memorial Day Race this weekend.  Below are the top ten males and females through the Flying Pig Marathon. 2023 RCGC Spring Volunteer Opportunities

  Here are some upcoming opportunities where you can help out the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati. If you can help out with any of these events, we would greatly appreciate it:

•  Memorial Day Race - The Memorial Day Race needs 10-15 volunteers to help with registration, timing, and post race on May 30. It would take 1-2 hours of your time. The jobs are easy and you will get a few other goodies. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get to know other club members. Let us know whether you can help by emailing us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or sign up at the online registration page. 
• Ongoing Openings - Currently we have few openings for keeping the club running on an ongoing basis: Treasurer, Vice President, and Social Media Coordinator. Most positions take 2-3 hours a month of your time. If you can or would like to fulfill one of these positions, please send an email to cincinnatirunning@gmail.com or attend the next board meeting on June 6.

Memorial Day Race 47 - May 29

Cincinnati's second oldest race behind the Thanksgiving Day Race is back in 2023 for number 47. The 2023 Memorial Day Race is at Lunken Playfield  at 9:00 AM on May 29, 2023. Since most runners are swimming in T-shirts and technical shirts, the club made the Memorial Day Race shirt for 2023 an optional purchase. It will be a technical shirt for the preregistration price of $10.   Register online.

Join the Runners Club of Greater Cincinnati in Montgomery at Swaim Park Lodge on Monday May 15,2023 to celebrate your accomplishments of  Flying Pig Marathon weekend! Show off, wear your bling and enjoy some BBQ, courtesy of RCGC!

 The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati would like to thank the volunteers that helped out at the Club's Flying Pig Fluid Station at Mile 22 on  May 7. Their contribution of  handing out water and Gatorade,  cheering, picking up trash and handling the adverse weather conditions made the fluid station another rousing success. Their dedication and enthusiasm made a great impression on the participants.

Mile 22 is where the marathon really begins for the runners and your support and encouragement means plenty to them.
