2015 Halloween Races in Greater Cincinnati

As any kid knows, October 31 is Halloween which means food and dressing up in costume.  If you can not wait that long, there are few Halloween themed races throughout the month of October.    Here are a few of them: 
  • Zombie 5k Run / Walk, Saturday October 3, 4:00 PM, RiversEdge Park, 2nd Street and Buckeye Street, Hamilton OH - First Halloween Run of the year that I know of. You can be a runner a walker or a zombie(not sure what that entails). Race is part of the Hamilton's  Operation Pumpkin Art Festival. Visit www.bc-unitedway.org for more information about the race.
  • Running Scared 5k, Saturday October 10, 6:00 PM, Veteran's Memorial Stadium, 1600 West Street, Reading OH - A flat 3.1 mile course through a “spooky” cemetery, ending at a fabulous Halloween Fest!  Participants are encouraged to run/walk in costumes. After the race, people are admitted to the post race party where they can listen to a hot band or have a cold beer. They can enjoy food and drinks from generous sponsors and listen to the live jammin’ band while they stay toasty warm inside or gather around the roaring fire outside.  Proceeds benefit Youth Education.  Visit www.runningscared5k.org for more information.
  • Harvest Hustle 5k Run / WalkSunday October 18 1:00 PM, NHR Penntown,13146 N. State Road 101, Sunman, IN 47041 - Does running (or walking) a 5k dressed in costume sound like a party (all while helping raise money and awareness for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD))? If you answered yes, you should sign up to participate in the Harvest Hustle 5k Run / Walk. Proceeds benefit New Horizons Rehabilitation and The Arc, two regional nonprofit organizations working to find solutions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.   • 30th Annual Ghost N Goblin 5k Run/Walk, Tuesday October 20 6:30 PM, RiverScape MetroPark, 111 East Monument Avenue, (downtown) Dayton, OH  - The Ghost N Goblin 5k has been a Dayton Halloween tradition for 30 years! Presented by the Ohio River Road Runners Club, the 2015 Ghost N Goblin is expected to be the best and biggest ever! Post race party with refreshments and a D.J.   • Run Like Hell 5k, Friday October 23 7:30 PM, Dana and Woodburn Avenue, Cincinnati OH - Run a 5K in costume... Through a cemetery... To a party at the finish. Proceeds benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Visit http://cincyrunlikehell.com for more information. 
  • Mud-o-Ween 5k, Saturday October 24, 10:00 AM, Countryside YMCA, Lebanon OH - Take on the muckiest challenge! Three miles on all terrain trail run. You won’t come out clean after you slide down the ravine and run the creek trail. Forget about tires or barrels as obstacles– worry about fallen trees to block your way. Think you can cross the pond and still be recognized by your friends? Come race dressed as your favorite super hero if you dare. See what you can accomplish at the Countryside YMCA Mud-O-Ween!   • Boo Run Run 5kSunday October 25, 6:00 PM, Wyoming Recreation Center, Wyoming OH - Course is fast and family-friendly through historic streets of Wyoming. Following race is afterparty with treats, awards for top male and female youth and adult finishers, and prizes for best costumes. Food and beverages available. Benefits Wyoming Youth Services.   • NAMI Trick or Trot 5k, Saturday October 31, 9:00 AM, Lindner Family Tennis Center, Mason OH -  Dust off your your silliest, spookiest costumes and join NAMI for the first annual NAMI Trick or Trot 5K run!  For more information, visit www.nami-cc.org.
  • Great Pumpkin Run, Saturday October 31 10:00 AM, Bonnybrook Farms, 3779 St. Rt. 132 Clarksville, OH - Get ready for the run of a lifetime! Traverse through challenging terrain, view scenic sights and beautiful views before maneuvering through a mile of one of Ohio's largest corn mazes!   • Goshen Firefighters Halloween 5k Run / Walk, Saturday October 31 2:00 PM, Kathryn Stagge-Marr Community Park, Goshen OH, The Goshen Professional Firefighters Association will host the first annual Halloween 5K Run/Walk to raise money for community outreach programs. The event will start and end at the Goshen Community Park off Goshen Road near the High School. The Run/Walk will transverse the park and school property following a marked trail used for HS cross country meets. Runners/Walkers are encouraged to show up in costume, awards will be given for best costume in 10 different age groups. Visit the online registration page for more information.
